Hayle, Gwithian and Godrevy are all in St Ives Bay.

st ives bay

Godrevy is a good swell catcher, especially at high tide when it wears off at Gwithian.

Gwithian is good for kite buggies and ATB. Smooth beach works well mid tide - low-tide to mid tide.

Hayle located in the estuary can catch a wave or too, and is not so good for buggies as the sand can be soft.

how to get to Gwithian South of Newquay on the A30, take the Hayle turn off, first roundabout turn right and follow signs to Gwithian. Turn left into carpark marked Gwithian Towans. Entrance to the beach is to the right (facing the sea).

parking manned carpark £2 or £3 per day. (gets full!)

facilities Surf shop, couple of cafes and toilets. Life Guards in summer.

comments Absolutely enormous beach, goes on for miles. Enough room for buggies from mid tide to low tide to mid tide again.

how to get to Godrevy South of Newquay on the A30, take the Hayle turn off, first roundabout turn right and follow signs to Gwithian. Drive past carpark at Gwithian Towans, onto Gwithian village, turn left signposted Godrevy National Trust.

parking 2 carparks £2 or £3 per day. First carpark on the left is for access to Godrevy for the surfbeach. Easy access to the beach is over a boardwalk and swim across the river (or walk over the bridge). Drive further on to reach Godrevy Point.

facilities National Trust cafe. Life Guards in summer.

comments Picks up the swell better than some other beaches. (If Fistral and Sennen are working so will Gwithian, go to Godrevy at high tide)
