 LOCATIONS

Bantham

how to get there Good Question! your best bet is to use MultiMap, EasyMap or the AA / RAC sites to get a detailed route map, or have an OS map in the car. There are alot of narrow windy roads to content with, depending on whether you take the quickest route or the shortest route.

parking large car park, manned entrance.

comments We all love Bantham because there is absolutley no commerce there at all. The beach area is privately owned and not been subjected to commerce as yet! The result of this is that when you visit you have to bring everything you need for the day with you. The beach has the River Avon flow into it so it is cut off from Bigbury-on-sea by the river flowing into the sea. Some hard core kayakers seem to take pleasure in paddling against the flow.

Being the south coast the waves are generally smaller than the north coast, but Batham still gets a respectable surfing wave, and is quite consistant, it is one of the better surf beaches on the South Devon coast. It is becoming a popular location for kitesurfing - you must be insured to kitesurf here.

Dry feet kite activities are not recommended in the high summer, there are too many holiday makers. Life guards will ask you to pack up if you are not showing common sense.

The situation varies from year to year, and from month to month re how, when and where you may kite. For uptodate info kites go here
