Duck Pond, Exmouth

This is an excellent location for kite sufing, wind surfing and power kites. It is located close to the old docks In Exmouth, close to the new marina development. Right at the mouth of the River Exe, the water is nice and calm just inside the estuary and also is very shallow. Thus you can surf from side to side or up and down, if you find yourself not where you want to be, just step off the board and you will probably be waist high in water. This is a popular sailing and windsurfing location too, with several sailing clubs nearby.

The Duck Pond is becoming a popular place to fly kites, and as such is a great meeting area too. It has the added bonus of allowing buggies too. If you are going to practise land based kite fun, then make sure you check the tides and only go out a few hours either side of low tide.   

how to get there from M5, junction 30, (Exeter services exit) Exmouth is signposted. As you enter Exmouth from Exeter and follow the signs to the sea front, when you see the train station and sports centre on your right, turn right at the next roundabout, drive past the sports centre car park and through to the car park right on the edge of the estuary. Tumble down the embankment onto the sand, grabbing your gear in the excitement and anticipation!
