Surf Kayak

The list of things to do in the water never stops, surf kayak is this page's contribution.

Whilst Indians and Eskimos are reckoned to be the first canoeists and kayakers, it seems that it was the Polynesians that were the first recorded surfers in their war canoes. Kayak Surfing as we now know it started to take shape with the advent of fibre glass canoes in the late 1960s and has continued to progress alongside improvements in design/technology and manufacture.

The ride can be broken down into three sections; getting started, the finish, and the bit in between - the ride. When out in the surf, a surfer will be looking to perform the most radical and functional ride in the most powerful part of the wave.

It is probably best to learn how to control your kayak in quieter water than surf. Only when you are competant should you attempt to get into the sea. Get lessons, and/or join a club to get the most out of this adrenaline sport.
